When we buy glasses, whether prescription or sunglasses, we know the brand and sometimes the model. To know exactly which ones they are, it is important to know the model of the glasses we have, so we can choose replacement parts for lenses, temples, or other parts of the frame with complete confidence.
How to identify the model of glasses?
In 99% of cases, the identifying numbers are found on the inside of the temple, and in some specific brands, we can see them between the temples and the inside of the bridge.
What do the numbers on the temple of our glasses indicate?
Regardless of the order in which they appear (although most brands repeat the same order), the grouping of numbers and letters is easily identifiable to understand what each of them indicates.
- The brand initials followed by a number indicate the model of that brand. Example RB3025, 0EA4149.
- A code of numbers and sometimes letters, appearing after the brand model, indicates the color of that model, sometimes a combination reflecting the color of the frame along with the lens color.
- A two-digit number, separated by a square from another number, refers to the lens width and the bridge size respectively. This is the only data that sometimes can appear on the inside of the glasses bridge.
- A three-digit value, appearing alone, indicates the temple length, that is, its size.
