ventajas de las gafas polarizadas

Advantages of polarized glasses

Spring has arrived, the good weather and the daylight hours are extended. Enjoying a walk, an afternoon on the terrace or the first days at the beach are moments that we all want to see. Now more than ever we pay special attention to protecting and caring for our skin and also our eyes. What are the advantages of polarized glasses?

How do polarized glasses work?

The light that we receive directly from the sun is not the one that really harms our eyes. However, the rays reflected from a surface not only cause glare and discomfort, but are also damaging our visual health.

We tend to protect our eyes when we consciously expose ourselves to the sun, for example, on a beach or in the snow. But we do not do it in daily actions where lightning is also harming us. When we drive, we can protect our car and ourselves with quality solar sheets. However, our eyes are receiving light reflected from the asphalt, from the glass of buildings...

Wearing polarized glasses can reduce the passage of ultraviolet rays by up to 90%.

Advantages of polarized glasses according to their category:

Category 0: These are very clear lenses with an absorption capacity between 1% and 19%. They are recommended for indoors, night or days with very covered skies.

Category 1: Its absorption capacity is between 20% and 56%. They are recommended in places with slight light such as inside the city.

Category 2: They absorb up to 80% of ultraviolet rays. They are used in situations with medium sun exposure.

Category 3: They block between 81% and 90% of UV rays. They are the most recommended for sunbathing or being on a terrace.

Category 4: They are used in water or mountain sports. Its absorption can reach up to 98%, which is why they are not recommended for driving.

IMPORTANT : we must not confuse the level of darkening of a lens with its UV protection capacity. There may be almost transparent lenses that protect from the sun more than dark ones.
